Latest Royals News and what’s happening in Iraq

Latest Royals News

Part time, full time, just what is it to be? Regarding the latest Royals News, I’m having difficulty understanding how one can be a part-time royal. Surely you’re either royalty or not. I know its old school thinking, but I always understood that to keep the royal line going, you needed royal blood. It’s now been so diluted that maybe they would do the family a great service by disappearing into the haze and only reappearing from time to time.

Fortunately, they haven’t become too much of a disgrace. Harry broke the mould when he married an American divorced commoner, which was pretty much sanctioned by his father marrying Camilla and the general acceptance of divorce. The days of banishment from the kingdom ended with Edward VIII and his American divorcee, Wallis Simpson being sent off to live in the French sunshine, in a not so small chateau. It must have been tough.

Latest Royals News: What is going on with Prince Harry and Meghan, Duke and Duchess of Sussex:

This week, Her Majesty gathered her royal flock about her and called a summit to discuss the crisis. Apparently, Harry was given a session alone with the Queen to explain his decision before being grilled by the royal panellists. I was trying to imagine the line-up. The queen would have been sitting in the big red chair, with her trusty successor and advisor on her left and the prosecutor, Prince William, on the right. Maybe it would be just a cosy chat around the coffee table.

The outcome: An astonishingly understanding and tolerant message from a rather emotional Queen, allowing them to pursue their 50/50 arrangement. She indicated that there would be a transition period, during which time the details will be discussed. She did use the word family more than once, thus showing a little chink in the royal armour. This was a rather personal family problem and not simply a matter of state. It appears that the Royal Carvery on the banks of the Niagara River above the falls is now a distinct possibility with Harry in the kitchen and Meghan looking after front of house. Justin Trudeau is ecstatic at the thought of having his royal family live on the premises and no doubt he’ll also pop in to enjoy a royal roast. Perhaps the latest Royals News regarding Prince Harry and Meghan, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, will come out of there. Trudeau is a bit unhappy about the cost of security though and would prefer an arrangement of sorts with the UK government.

MMmm. Security. Another issue.

The English taxpayers are now making noises about subsidising this lot and understandably so. Sussex Royal Limited is a part of such a high profile brand, they can earn mega millions in income. At the same time, I doubt that the royal family want Harry to be seen stuffing great piles of cash into the till. That would demean the firm somewhat. I do think it’s time for them to run a proper set of books and add security to the list of company expenses that they should be declaring. Tax-deductible I’m sure.

Meanwhile, in the Gulf, the Iranian leadership is squirming uncomfortably.

One moment they were carrying the body of their supreme commander to the graveside on an America Chevrolet, the next, launching missiles to shake up American bases in Iraq. This was a delicate operation. Attack the Americans, but don’t hurt anyone. Well, that worked.

All was good until a trigger happy soldier launched a missile on an aircraft departing from Teheran airport. The missile operator had been told that the Americans were retaliating. He was unable to contact any superiors and took the calamitous decision to press the button.

For him, this was probably a case of “be damned if you do and be damned if you don’t.” I’m sure that if he hadn’t launched the missile and it had been American, he would be in the same jail cell that he’s now occupying.
At first, denying any involvement, the authorities rapidly started “cleaning up” the crash site with a bulldozer before finally admitting that they had accidentally shot down a commercial airliner.

With 87 Iranians amongst the 176 passengers who were killed, the general population furiously turned their wrath on the government. Just to make life more difficult for, the regime decided to arrest the British ambassador and shoot a few protesters for good measure.

No doubt Trump is having a good week with all the self-inflicted Iranian tomfoolery. He didn’t have to do much at all this week, and I understand he sent his first tweet in a foreign language, telling the Iranians what great people they are and that he stands behind them. Good job Donald.
