Ballie Traveller News Report: And so Coronavirus continues……..

We are now into month seven of the single biggest world-changing event in the last 100 years. The first Covid-19 death having been recorded in China in late December, with the latest, probably a moment ago, while you were reading this.

So far, 544,000 people have died worldwide, with millions more losing their livelihood and all due to a bug that looks a bit like a Hollywood alien invader and is invisible without a microscope. The stuff of science fiction.

I have this virus image in my head of a massive dragon similar to Lewis Carroll’s Jabberwocky, thrashing its deadly tail side to side, killing and maiming people, destroying buildings and entire cities. Farfetched? Not Really. That is what Covid-19 is doing.

Of course, the blame game is well underway between politicians, who have the unenviable task of not getting anything right anyway, no matter how hard they try.

The worldwide numbers so far.

Deaths: 544,000
Cases: 11,800,000
Extended family affected: Assuming 4 people affected per death: 2.2 Million
Unemployment: Possibly a further 25 Million (International Labour Organisation)
Poverty: Worldwide increase of 35 Million (International Labour Organisation)
Cost to the UK: £240 Billion over and above the originally expected borrowings for 2020.

So, have we broken the back of this scourge? Judging by the new waves of worldwide lockdowns, it’s probably going to be around for a while.

Ballie Traveller News Report: To mask or not to mask

Why Mask is Necessary

UK citizens were told by their government, that wearing of face masks would do little to reduce infection. They are only useful at protecting the other person but not you.
Huh!

Are you not the other person when the other person is nearby? So we are slowly getting the picture. There was a worldwide shortage of masks, which meant if all members of the public rushed out to buy them, there would be a massive problem for the NHS and the medical profession in general.

Misleading information, maybe, but probably necessary. The public at large, (known for their expertise at hoarding toilet rolls), would have cleared the shelves of all masks in a matter of one afternoon.

However, the scientists initially believed that the airborne distribution of the virus was within a relatively small circle of droplets that soon fell to the ground. New findings show that this may not necessarily be the case.

The World Health Organisation, (WHO) is reviewing new evidence that the virus can remain airborne and linger for extended periods. Masks are suddenly becoming the “in thing” to wear unless you happen to be British and off to the supermarket. Hardly anyone wears them to the supermarket. Work that one out.

The solution: Whatever! Wear a mask. It is the right thing to do. Move away from coughers and sneezers. Stay safe.

Ballie Traveller News Report: Meanwhile, its washday across the pond in the White House

Donald Trump US President

Donald Trump’s niece, Mary Trump, has decided that it is time to hang out the dirty family washing and released a rather hard-hitting memoir, which, unsurprisingly, has made her uncle rather unhappy. In true Trump fashion, he proceeded to approach the court to block its publication.

The White House, as expected, has also rejected various claims made in the book.
Hot on the heels of John Bolton’s book, “The Room Where it Happened”, expose’ of the inner workings of the White House and the not so intelligent decisions of Trump himself.

In her book, “Too Much and Never Enough”, Mary Trump describes her uncle as a Narcissist whose ego is so fragile that it needs bolstering at every opportunity. She labelled him a fraud and a bully who hired a smart kid to take his university entrance exam on his behalf, as he was afraid that he would not make the grade.

A close loving family!

Interesting reading for sure.

Ballie Traveller News Report: There’s that Race Card again.

News on Bianca Williams

English Athlete, member of Team GB, Bianca Williams tweeted that she was seriously upset at being pulled over by the police believing that she and her partner were racially profiled.

Interestingly, she failed to mention that they were driving on the wrong side of the road, had failed to stop when instructed to by the police, and refused to leave the vehicle when told to do so.

The entire encounter, which was recorded on video, shows a different story. The Met police have handed over the case to the police watchdog authority for investigation. Good luck Bianca. I fear you may have lost a few followers.
