It’s been 50 years since we have been celebrating Earth Day – Happy Earth Day, Mother Earth!
So, what is Earth Day? According the Earth Day Website, they plan to “build the world’s largest environmental movement to drive transformative change for people and planet.” It takes place on April 22 every year. There are events held all over the planet I honor of the day and the Earth.
The first Earth Day took place in 1970, when 20 million Americans took to the streets to protest environmental negligence and to ensure that things would change going forward. The year before, 1969 was saw oil spills, smog, rivers so polluted they literally caught fire. Things were bad, the planet was complaining, but were we listening. Well, 20 million Americans were, and so Earth Day came to be.
Eventually it then grew to be Worldwide, where people all around the world gather to hold seminars and events to spread information about the Earth and its pollution, and what we can do to reduce the said pollution and help the Earth heal and survive. People also hold events where they actually go and plant trees or do clean-ups, a more active role in helping the environment.
The Earth is the only planet that has life. It is the only planet where we can live. It is necessary to protect it.
Here are a set of photos to wish you a Happy Earth Day and to remind you what we need to protect:

These are just some of the many reasons that we need to celebrate and protect the planet. We have just one planet, we live here, shouldn’t we take care of it too. Plant a tree, take the train or bus, don’t waste water, these are just small things you can do to help protect this planet. Let’s all join together to take care of Mother Earth together. Happy Earth Day.For more current events update you will find it here.
