1. All that Glitter & Sparkle

We also expect to see more glitter and sparkle when it comes to not just highlighters but also eye shadows and even lipsticks. 2. Redefining the Eye
Eyes have always been a defining feature when it comes to make up. We add color, fake lashes and even liners to help accentuate the beauty that our eyes add to our face. This is why a lot of trends are often related to eyes. 2019 was all about highlighting the eyelids to make the eyes look bigger, but in 2021 we are now seeing a greater focus on the inner eyes. There is a lot more of color or shine or even jewelry that can be added to bring that bit into focus.
3. Go Colorful!
90s is back in! The bright and bold colors are back. Using bright oranges, pinks, blues, purples and greens to make a statement is definitely making a return. While neons are considered a tad too bold, all the other colors are making a comeback in metallic. If you can’t select one color, adding a contrast is also great, or you can even go for a more unicorn colorful look if that is more your palette!
4. Matte No More
Matte was all the rage in 2018, with a lot of people preferring matte lipsticks, foundations and even nail polishes. But 2019, we are definitely going to see the return of gloss. Glossy lipsticks and glossy foundations are back! This year, we say adieu to Matte and add a bit more shimmer to our makeup palette. Glossy skin is the latest trend, where you want to go for that glowing “just stepped out of the spa” look.
5. No More Crazy Eyebrows
The trend for redrawn crazy eyebrows is finally over and we can’t say goodbye fast enough! Redrawing and shaping eyebrows with accentuated arches was definitely the trends in 2017 and 2018, but this year we are happy to announce that natural eyebrows are back! Thick, luscious eyebrows are definitely something we expect to see in 2021.

6. Exotic Eyeliners
While we say farewell to crazy eyebrows, 2021 brings a new kooky trend – eyeliners! 2021 will definitely see a range of different eyeliner trends, from the classic and the cat eye to Cleopatra style, we expect to see them all! Also, don’t forget to add a little color to your eyeliners. This year, step away from the basic blacks and browns and instead invest in bold metallic bronzes, reds, greens and even oranges.
7. Skip Contouring
Contouring was definitely on every makeup artist’s list. It’s was also the biggest trend in 2018, something we found in every YouTuber’s arsenal. And while we were just learning to perfect our contour skills, it turns out we might not need them in 2021. This year heavy contouring is out, and framing the face is in. According to Elle magazine, once the makeup is done all you need to do is use a fluffy brush and bronzer to highlight the temples, and under the cheekbones and jawline. This will give your face a bit more definition, making it look sun-kissed!
8. Back to Basics
Heavy makeup isn’t on the roster this year, instead it seems like we are going back to basics. A simple color on the eyes, cheeks and lips and we are ready to go! This year we expect to see minimalism when it comes to make up, while there should be one feature that is highlighted like the eyes or the lips, you should definitely keep the rest of the makeup simple. We are also expecting a more pastel palette this year, with more pinks and tans for eyeshadows as well as lipsticks.
9. Stained Lips
This trend started towards the end of 2018, but is definitely expected to continue in 2021! Cherry-pop stained lips in bold colors like magenta or ruby red are something that we are already seeing on the red carpet this year. Go for bold colors as they offer more pigmentation and look great even after fading a bit. We also expect to see some bright orange, red and pink hues in this trend.

The age for buying and testing makeup products are gone, today it is all about customization. A lot of brand new companies are now offering customized products from shampoos, foundations to even lipsticks. This is definitely something we are going to see more off in 2021. Customized products are becoming huge since you don’t waste money on testing products that may or may not look good.
