Every bride plans her wedding day meticulously, after all the day has to be perfect.The wedding preparations starts months, sometimes as long as a year or two in advance, and in some cases even as far back as childhood or teenage years. Yet many brides forget that the central point of the wedding is not the decorations or food, but rather the bride herself. So, if she is spending months on finding the most beautiful dress, the perfect venue, or the most delicious cake, then should she not spend an equal amount of time to be her most beautiful self? Instead, many brides leave their beauty regiments to a week before the wedding, thinking that it is more than enough time to get ready; however that is not the case. Doing too much to your skin in the days leading to your wedding, will not only stress you out, but can also lead to unforeseeable events and leave your skin looking harried. There are many things that you can do in the weeks or months leading up to the wedding to ensure that you look the best version of yourself on your special day; after all it is your day.

Drink plenty of water

Ensure that you are drinking enough water in the weeks leading up to your wedding. It is often recommended that one should drink 8 glasses of water in a day. While that is not accurate medical advice, our body does work best when it is adequately hydrated. Water flushes out toxins from the body, clears pores, moisturizes the skin, and gives you a healthy glow. Drinking enough water also makes you alert and healthier. With so many benefits, and no negative effects, there is no reason not to drink plenty of water.

Get 8 hours of sleep every night

You should get a regular amount of sleep in the weeks leading up to the wedding. While it might be hard with all the excitement, and the dread over the amount of things left to do, sleep is important and provides many benefits. Firstly, it will reduce stress, which is most important. Having a good night sleep will also give you the energy to tackle all the things you still have to do. Also, you’ll be surprised the wonders a good night sleep can work on your skin. Just imagine: no more dark circles and puffiness under the eyes.

Eat Healthier

Ever heard phrase, ‘you are what you eat’? Believe, it or not, it is true, at least to some extent. Eating junk food, or not getting enough nutrients, can make you feel sluggish and looking tired, which is not how you want to seem on your wedding day. While you should eat healthy all the time, you should especially eat healthier in the weeks leading to the wedding. This will ensure that you will skin looks healthy and retains its natural glow.

While one should exercise regularly, it is especially important to do so in the days leading to the wedding. You don’t have to work out like crazy, though it wouldn’t hurt, but any little thing would help, a walk, a jog, a swim, etc. Not only will the exercise tone your muscles and help you lose weight but it will also make your skin look healthier, and release endorphins in your body, which will de-stress and make you feel happy. There are literally no negative effects to exercising.

Wash your face regularly

While you probably wash your face every day anyway, it should be reiterated that you should use a mild cleansing face wash, one the works well for your skin. You can even wash your face twice a day: morning and night, as it will help reduce oil on your skin, and leave it with a healthy clean feeling. You can also use a scrub, generally one a week, to exfoliate your skin, and to remove any impurities and/or dead skin. However, don’t over wash your face, as it will increase oil production, making your skin appearing oily, no matter how many times you wash it.

Moisturize skin and lips

In addition to washing your face, you should moisturize your face, body, and even lips. While it make seem like a tedious task, you should apply a light and good moisturizer at least one a day. You can even apply it when going to bed and leave it overnight. This will soften and moisturize your skin making it soft, supple, and young looking. Don’t forget to moisturize your face, but don’t use a body moisturizer; it is usually too thick and oily for your face. Instead use a nice daily moisturizing face cream. Also, use lip balm or lip moisturizer daily. Another note: never ever sleep with make up on or without removing it completely. Sleeping with makeup is a surefire way to lead to wrinkles, and dry, cracked skin.

Take baths with sodium bicarbonate

At times, just showering normally is not enough. Instead you should take a bath at least once a week or so and soak your skin and body. Not only will it relax and destress you, but it will also soften your skin. During your bath, take an exfoliator and gently scrub your whole body; you’ll be surprise how many impurities and dead skin cells have managed to cling to your body despite of regular showers. Removing all of these will leave your skin feeling smooth and young. You can also add bath salts with sodium bicarbonate in your bath water. Sodium bicarbonate breaks down any dry patches on your skin and allows it to better absorb moisture. This is especially effective for tough areas on your skin, such as hands, elbows, knees, etc.
