12 Fictional Animal Sidekicks We Always Wanted But Can’t Have

Fictional Animal Sidekicks

Sometimes the best sidekick is one you just have to make up! Movies feature some kick-ass sidekicks, who always know the right thing to say and do! Not only do they always have your back, but they also make the best wingman…wingwoman…winganimal…wingbestfriend? Oh you get the idea. So, here are the some awesome fictional animal sidekicks we always wanted but can’t have.

These sidekicks are not only cute but just the epitome of perfection! If you are anything like me (let’s face it, I’m an individual just like everyone else), you’ve definitely wished to find a perfect cuddly wuddly animal sidekick.

If you’re waiting on stumbling on your very own dragon egg, or a griffin’s nest or a talking cat (hear me universe!), then this list (in no particular order) is for you!

In that regard, here are 12 Fictional Animal Sidekicks We Always Wanted But Can’t Have:

1. Pikachu

Pikachu
Everyone who has been in love with Pokémon (we know you’ve played Pokémon GO, come on), then you remember every heartbreaking moment when Pikachu kept on trying just so he could make Ash proud! Who wouldn’t like this cute little bundle of joy that is always there to support you no matter what you do. PS: they only shock you a little with love if you piss them off.

2. Abu

Abu
Abu is the perfect partner-in-crime, from thieving to lying. He’s always had Aladdin’s back as he stood tall on Aladdin’s shoulders. To top it off, he’s so cute and cuddly and the best part, you’d never have to worry about having a lice problem with him as your sidekick.

3. Boots

Boots
You know your favorite part of watching Dora was Boots. This is why I believe Diego was always less popular. This quirky companion was always on board with whatever crazy scheme Dora would come up with. Traveling long distances, arguing with thieving foxes, finding lost items, you name it and Boots was always there. You can admit it, Boots was the favorite part of watching Dora.

4. Rufus

Rufus
If you haven’t heard of Kim Possible, what have you been doing with your life?! “Call Me Beep Me” used to be my jam! Kim Possible, Ron Stoppable and Rufus were the best team you could ever ask for. This naked mole rat had more talent and spunk than any other character on this list. And if you haven’t considered getting a naked mole rat, until you actually googled them and saw their real photos, you’ve been missing out.

5. Scooby-Doo

Scooby-Doo
If you don’t know Scooby Doo, I truly feel sorry for you! Ruh Roh. This talking Great Dane has been winning hearts since the show was first released way back in the late 60s. Although, he was more interested in gorging on snacks rather than solving mysteries, he could always be swayed by a few Scooby snacks!

6. Akamaru

Akamaru
This large dog gives dogs everywhere a bad name. Akamaru is smart as a fox and devoted to his best friend Kiba. The best part is you can actually ride him. While originally small and runty, Akamaru grows up to become huge, almost as big as a horse (still smaller than Clifford The Red Dog though). His dedication to having Kiba’s back, you’d definitely pick him by your side in a fight.

7. Maximus and Pascal

Maximus and Pascal
These two are known to cause havoc whenever they are in the same room, but they are still the most playful and fun sidekicks to have around. With them nearby, you will never have a dull moment. Whether it’s their playful rivalry with each other or their fierce nature to protect their friends, they never fail to make you laugh.

8. Direwolves

Direwolves
Since the popularity of GOT (Game of Thrones for you non-fans), Direwolves are now “in”, and since wolves are already so damn cool, Direwolves take it one step further. Slightly bigger, these wolves are definitely protective of their pals. You wouldn’t want to mess with these babies, unless you want to face their wrath!

9. Salem Saberhagen

Salem Saberhagen
If you were born somewhere in the 90s or the early 2000s, you have definitely come across Sabrina the Teenage Witch (no, not the movie, Let’s just pretend that “that” doesn’t exist!). While Sabrina is definitely the main characters, you have to agree that Salem (The Black Cat) steels the show. And you may be on either Team Harvey or Team Josh, I will forever be a fan of one of the coolest cats I know, Salem! Don’t mistake him for an ordinary cat, he’s actually a warlock punished as a cat for a failed plot to take over the world!

10. Puss in Boots

Puss in Boots
Puss in Boots is suave, just like the guy who voiced him (psst Antonio Banderas). But he’s also more than that – he’s manipulative, cute and extremely smart. He knows how to get out of tight spots (although that may be because he’s a cat, but hey we don’t judge). He also knows how to use those puppy cat eyes? to get out of trouble and get what he wants. But if you mistake him for a cute and cuddly kitten, be sure to watch out for his impressive sword skills.

11. Toothless

Toothless
The little big dragon who stole hearts across the world, Toothless is not just a sidekick but also a best friend. Hiccup needed a friend, someone who would believe in him and his non-violent outlook on life that dragons are not brutes. Lo and behold, he stumbles upon a hurt dragon who cannot fly. He not only befriends the dragon, but also changes the attitude of his entire village. Toothless is not at all scary, but rather cute and has a distinguished personality. You’d definitely want this cuteness in your life!

12. Stitch

Stitch
Stitch is not a sidekick, Stitch is ohana. Stitch, a crazed alien experiment gone wrong crash lands on Earth and stumbles upon Lilo. Not only does she save his life and helps him evade capture, but she also helps him learn about family. Stitch is crazy, unpredictable but protective of his friends. He might be an alien, but he’s one that you want on your side.

These amazing sidekicks have been through so much along with the main characters and are often the reasons why good always beats evil in the show! If you have some amazing side-kicks that you’ve though about, then do share them with us!
