Its Valentines Week! A Whole 7 Days leading up to Valentine’s Day

Valentines Week

Ah, Valentines Week. It that beautiful time of the year again, where all the couples in the world collaborate to make singles feel horrible about their life choices. Also when all the companies in the world come together to sell you romantic gifts which you are going to use for exactly one night and never again.

Still, all jokes aside, Valentine’s Day is basically a day for all the lovers out there; a day to show that special someone exactly how much you love and cherish them. It started off as a lovely tradition. As the story goes, Valentine’s Day pays homage to St. Valentine, who was said to help Roman soldiers secretly marry, as they were forbidden to do so lest it distract them from their duties.

Still, there are many out there, who feel that one day to celebrate is not enough. Yes, there are those who say you shouldn’t celebrate your love for only one day, but for everyday you are with them. We are not talking about those people. We are talking about those who want to party for the whole week instead. Yup, you read that right, Valentine’s Day has now expanded into Valentine’s Week.

The celebrations of Valentine’s Day now starts on the 7th of February, a whole 7 days leading up to Valentine’s Day.

Its Valentines Week! Here are the 7 Days of Valentines:

1. Rose Day – 7th February

Rose Day
The names of the days are pretty self explanatory. So, Rose Day is basically for Roses. On this day, you are supposed to send or give roses to your significant other. Sounds simple enough, and romantic enough, but it is just the beginning. There is more to come…

2. Chocolate Day – 8th February

Chocolate Day
The second day is Chocolate Day, the most delicious of the 7 Valentine’s Days. As you might have guessed, this day involves giving or sending your loved one, chocolates. It could be the traditional heart shaped box of chocolates, or some of their favourite chocolates instead. If they don’t like chocolate, then you can change it up and send them something they do like (preferably chocolate).

3. Propose Day – 9th February

Propose Day
Now this is a bit tricky, and might scare some of you out there. Don’t worry, it does not necessarily mean to propose marriage. The primarily function of this day to allow one to approach someone you like, mostly with the intention of proposing a date. So you can propose to date, propose to go steady, propose marriage, or propose something else, whatever rocks your boat.

4. Teddy Day – 10th February

Teddy Day
This is pretty traditional and self explanatory. Teddy Day is to gift a cute cuddle teddy bear to your significant other. Something for them to remember you by for the times when you are not with them. (Or something to burn, you know in case it doesn’t work out.)

5. Promise Day – 11th February

Promise Day
Again, pretty self explanatory. You use this day (or are forced to), make promises to your loved one. Promise to be good, promise to love them forever, promise to take care of them, promise to always be there for them. We feel like this is actually one of the most romantic days of the 7 days of Valentines, as it does not involve something material but something significant.

6. Hug Day – 12th February

Hug Day
You take this opportunity to hug your significant other. Of course, you should hug them every day or whenever you can, if not this day is the perfect excuse to get a great hug from your loved one. Hugs are significantly underrated; there is nothing more intimate than a open and honest hug.

7. Kiss Day – 13th February

Kiss Day
This day is what you make it. You can use it to extract a kiss from your significant other, or more (you know as long as the other person is comfortable with it). But you don’t want to take it too far either, remember, there is still tomorrow. The most important day – Valentine’s Day.

8. Valentine’s Day – 14th February

Valentines day
Then it is finally Valentine’s Day. The traditional holiday for the lovers, which includes the traditional, flowers, chocolates, gifts, a romantic date, which will probably include a kisses and hugs, and perhaps even more. Basically, it is all of the above and more. This could lead one to ask if one needs to do everything on Valentine’s Day again, then what is the purpose of the whole week before. Well, your guess is as good as ours.
